Avoid abrupt w/drawal. May increase ischemia & extend area of infarction in patients w/ coronary, mesenteric or peripheral vascular thrombosis; hypotension following MI, Prinzmetal's variant angina & those w/ diabetes, HTN or hyperthyroidism. Profound hypoxia or hypercarbia. Use only in conjunction w/ appropriate blood vol replacement. Frequently check BP & rate of flow when infusing to avoid HTN. Extravasation of the soln may cause local tissue necrosis. Plasma vol depletion in prolonged administration. Patients on Na controlled diet. Renal or hepatic impairment. Pregnancy & lactation. Not recommended in childn. Elderly.
May result to severe, prolonged HTN & possible arrhythmias w/ volatile halogenated anesth agents, MAOIs, linezolid, TCAs, adrenergic-serotonergic drugs or any other cardiac sensitizing agents. Effects of noradrenaline may be enhanced by guanethidine.
C01CA03 - norepinephrine ; Belongs to the class of adrenergic and dopaminergic cardiac stimulants excluding glycosides. Used in the treatment of hypotension.
